Ashby-based Company ‘engineers’ the mental health support for people struggling with their mental health due to the pandemic
Celebrating their 30th year of business, Finch Consulting, an engineering compliance consultancy, based in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, will raise funds to support people with mental health problems by sponsoring Burton and District Mind.
Over the year, Finch Consulting aim to raise over £30,000 through exciting events such as indoor skydiving, the Three-Peak Challenge and ever popular cake bakes!
“Our community is now in a mental health emergency. The pandemic has had a devastating effect on vulnerable people with existing mental health problems, with increased loneliness and poverty. But even more alarming, we have seen a rapid and lasting increase in people showing the tell-tale signs and symptoms of mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression. Furthermore, we are now seeing emotional burnout from frontline staff, carers and those key family members who look after everyone else!” reports Lynne Barrell, Chief Officer of Burton and District Mind.
Burton and District Mind are also celebrating 30 years of operation, providing a range of high quality counselling services, supported by mindfulness, eco-therapy, workplace health, peer support and employability & tenancy services. Typically, they see 3000 people a year, but in 2022, they will need to support many more.
Over the course of 2022, Finch is implementing a comprehensive mental health and wellbeing programme to support their evolving business. This will further support their staff and therefore their clients.
The generous commitment to fund-raising by Finch Consulting will enable them to help even more people, including people living in Ashby through some joint project work with Nottingham Mind to develop Leicestershire to have its own local Mind branch. Projects, such as self-help groups and eco-therapy, puts people who are experts by experience of recovery at the heart of the delivery of mental health services, whilst helping their own personal development and employability. The fundraising will power the message across the community for the post-pandemic recovery:
“Please talk, we are listening. You are worth the help and together we’ll find you help.”
