The start of a new year can be a conflicting time when it comes to our mental health and the emotions we may be experiencing. We may feel excitement for what’s to come, and the things we may do but at the same time you may also be feeling anxiety about going into the unknown that is 2025. Or perhaps sadness at the loss of time.
It’s a difficult thing, and it’s okay to be feeling these emotions. And if you are not feeling these emotions that is okay too!
It can also be a time when across all social media you are seeing people celebrating their accomplishments from 2024, and it can be hard to not then go on to compare yourself to these accomplishments. For some, this may mean energy is spent trying to keep up with these accomplishments to be on the same footing. Instead of focusing on yourself and what you want and have accomplished!
You have done amazing things, and focusing on those things instead of what people are posting about on social media can be so important. Even if it seems smaller, any achievement is still something amazing. Be proud of what you’ve done and accomplished!
Every now and again when you may be feeling low about this, perhaps you could write down what you have achieved as a reminder. As time goes on, and the more you do it you might start to recognise your triumphs more.
At Burton and District Mind, every year we aim to improve more and more whether that be the amount of people we help, or the services that we provide.
You can help us do that by doing this survey here -> https://www.burtonmind.co.uk/feedback
It shouldn’t take too long and will massively help us in improving over the next year.
Thank you for your support throughout 2024, let's make 2025 even better.
From all of us at Burton and District Mind, we hope you have a fantastic 2025!
