Join our Peer Support Facilitator Volunteer Team!

We are looking for Peer Support Facilitator Volunteers to support our Peer Support Groups across Burton, Burntwood and online.

At Burton and District Mind, we currently offer three Peer Support Groups which are:

Burton Arts Group - 10:30-12:30 Wednesdays - Burton on Trent

Virtual Peer Group - 6pm- 8pm - Thursdays - from home - need access to a computer

Mind Matters Burntwood - 1pm-3pm - Fridays Burntwood

We believe that anyone with a mental health problem can live a meaningful and hopeful life. Some people may need more help to achieve this, and Peer Groups can play a useful and meaningful part in this support.

The feedback we have received for our groups truly emphasizes their importance and the positive impact they have on the lives of our participants.

“We’ve all helped each other so much. Where we’ve come from to where we are, it's

amazing! I know who is going to be there and know there’s a smile on everyone’s face.” PE Nov 23

“I walk in, but I float out!” 9th Feb 24

“I just wanted to say thank you for your support over the couple of years I’ve been attending the group. You, collectively, have got me through some tough times. Once again, I can’t express how important these meetings have been to help me get through. I think its amazing that you give so much of your time to help others like myself.” HM Jun 24

Peer Support Groups come in all shapes and sizes, but for ours, on average each of the groups helps around eight adults with lived experience of mental health problems every week.

To run these groups, we have at least two volunteer Peer Support Facilitator present alongside, a named member of the Burton and District Mind Staff team for support.

So to help us keep these running and done so efficiently, we are currently looking to bring in some volunteers Peer Support facilitators to help support them!

If you are interested in gaining some experience of working within Mental Health, or just want to do something to support your local community this is a truly fantastic opportunity.

All of our Peer Support Facilitators will have the opportunity for induction and training, as well as be able to claim for out-of-pocket expenses. You will also be supported all the way through,

If this is something you’d be interested in, you can find more information on our website here -> https://www.burtonmind.co.uk/volunteering
