About Mindfulness
Mindfulness has been practiced throughout the world within many communites and faiths.
It is made up of a variety of techniques which involves a special effort to notice what is happening in the present moment (whether that be in your mind, body or surroundings).
Now let’s take this opportunity to talk a bit about why practising Mindfulness and learning new techniques can be great for your mental health!
There are many benefit such as…
1) Stress reduction. It can be a great way to reduce stress by helping people become more aware of their thoughts and feelings, allowing them to respond to things causing stress in a calmer way.
2) Managing anxiety. Through Mindfulness techniques you can learn how to observe and accept anxious thoughts without reacting negatively to those thoughts.
3) Depression relief. Practising Mindfulness can help you to be able approach your thoughts and feelings with more compassion and understanding.
4) Improving your focus and attention. A big part of Mindfulness is all about using what is around you as well as concentrating.
5) Help you have more resilience. Through learning these Mindfulness techniques, this can prepare you future moments of difficulty and help you get through them!
Those are just a few of the many benefits that practising Mindfulness can bring to your life, but of course its important to remember that everyone is different so whilst may experience some benefits others might have others!
Here is some of the feedback we have got in the past for similar projects…
“Your meditations are wonderful and improve my day and well-being."
"I was very touched by the support I received from yourself and the group."
"It was very much appreciated by us all - we emerged relaxed and smiling."
A massive thank you to the Re-stART group for supporting this project, and Strachan and Burton Trust who have kindly funded this project.
