Trigger Warning – Mention of suicide

The month of November is Men’s Mental Health Month, a month dedicated to highlighting the unique mental health challenges that men may face, and how best to start an open conversation around that topic.

This month at Burton & District Mind, we are encouraging men across our community to open up, reach out and look after their mental health.

Throughout the UK, men are 3x more likely to die by suicide than women. This could be as a result of a number of reasons, such as many men still feeling like they have to struggle alone, without confiding in anyone about the difficulties they are experiencing. Whether that be stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness or even the pressures of everyday life.

This is why more than ever, we need to express that it is okay to not be okay, and it’s also okay to need help sometimes.

For the remainder of the month, we’ll have some posts on our social media about some of the men who work at Burton & District Mind, and the things that they do to support their mental health, so be sure to follow our pages so you don’t miss them!

Due to many of the unfortunate stigmas surrounding mental health, we understand that taking that first step towards looking after your mental health can be difficult. However, we here at Burton & District Mind are here to help.

We have a variety of different projects that offer the chance to support your mental health through doing an activity at the same time.

Currently we have…

  • Eco-Therapy in Burton
  • Sideways Gaming in Lichfield
  • Mixed Martial Arts in Tamworth
  • Mindfulness, Awareness and Martial Arts

If any of these interest you, you can sign up here -> https://burtonmind.co.uk/contact-us/
