A few weeks ago, it was International Women’s Day, and Laura from our Safe Haven team shared her experience at the Tamworth ‘Walk in her shoes’ event!
Here is what happened…
On Sunday,
8th March, I had the honour of joining four of our female Safe Haven participants to take part in the “Walk in Her Shoes” event in celebration of International Women’s Day.
The turnout was overwhelming, with around 80–90 men, women, children, and plenty of dogs coming together from the community and services across Tamworth.
It was truly a powerful community walk: a moment of solidarity, reflection, and shared purpose.
Together, we raised awareness and honoured the strength and resilience of women everywhere. The atmosphere was one of unity, hope, and collective support, and it was inspiring to see so many individuals and organisations showing up for such an important cause.
The walk was facilitated by the Pathways Project, in partnership with Councillor Natalie Stratham (Chair of Community Wellbeing) and Vengold Transformations, whose collaboration helped create a meaningful and inclusive event for all involved.
For our Safe Haven participants, the day offered connection, empowerment, and the chance to proudly represent our service within the wider community. We were grateful to be part of such an impactful celebration and look forward to continuing to champion spaces that uplift, support and empower women.
