April is Stress Awareness Month.

A month dedicated to spreading awareness about stress, how it can impact our health and also sharing ways on how to cope with stress as a whole.

Stress is something that can impact us for many different reasons, as we go about our days, with some of the more common reasons being things like work, family/relationships and money-related issues.

Stress isn’t always a bad thing, and in some ways can be useful. It’s just how we feel when we are under pressure or threatened. It all just depends on whether we cope or manage such stress.

For example, it may help us to get tasks done. However, it can become a problem when it continues to last for a long time or becomes very intense.

When stress becomes a problem, it could lead to feelings of anxiety, loneliness, fatigue, headaches, sleep problems, being overwhelmed, and irritability.

This is why finding ways to manage stress is so important!

Here are some ways to manage stress…

  • Set workload targets to get through at a steady pace. This way, you’ll see yourself making progress.
  • Identify triggers
  • Organising time
  • Seeking support when needed
  • Taking breaks

At Burton & District Mind, we also completely understand how easy it is to become stressed at work, and the effects such a thing can have on our mental health

As such, over the past few months, we received our Thrive at Work certification, which means we are taking steps to prioritise employee health and wellbeing.

Additionally, we also offer Workplace Wellbeing for local organisations/businesses, which includes high-quality mental health training led by trained staff.
