This week (11-17th May 2026) is Mental Health Awareness Week, and this year’s theme is…
‘Great mental health care is ‘Human.’
At Burton & District Mind, we’ve decided to explore this in a number of different ways that we’ll highlight throughout this blog post.
When it comes to mental health support, it can often be easy to only associate it with mental health terms such as depression, anxiety or even the support available, such as therapy.
We are all just human, whether you are the person needing help or the person helping others.
It is human to need help.
For example,
1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England.
About 1 in 5 children and young people aged 8 to 25 in England have a probable mental health problem.
Through highlighting this, we hope it may help those who are struggling but worry about reaching out due to some of the negative stigmas surrounding mental health feel more comfortable in reaching out.
At Burton & District Mind, we are proud of the humans behind each of our different teams who every week are there to provide vital support, facilitate groups, and provide a listening ear when its needed most.
It’s also the humans who are there supporting us to be able to continue offering our vital support, through donating, fundraising or volunteering with us.
If you need support for your mental health, please remember
We are here for you & here for everyone.
We can help you; we just need you to reach out.
