This week, at Burton & District Mind, we are having a bit of a focus on the variety of different counselling services that we offer.
Counselling has been something we have offered at Burton & District Mind for a good while, and it gives us great pride in the fact that our counselling team is made up of many highly qualified people who are dedicated to supporting mental health and giving you the best possible care.

Here is some information on the counselling services that we offer…
Fast Track Counselling (click here for more info)
The Fast Track Counselling is a direct service to be seen on a much shorter waiting list (usually only up to a week).
The cost of this service is £60 a session, with an upfront deposit of 1 session. Availability is dependent on matching your availability with the counsellor’s availability.
Coaching (click here for more details)
Coaching is a way of supporting people to identify how they wish to move forward and helping them achieve that.
Low Cost Coaching -> £20
Fast Track Coaching ->£60

The Low Cost counselling is part-subsidised through a small fund, which is why you will be asked to contribute per session based on your salary as below, with an upfront deposit of 1 session.
The rest of the costs to our charity are met through donations and community fundraising. Availability is dependent on funding available.
Low Cost Counselling will cost a flat rate of £20, with a maximum of six sessions.

Our NHS Counselling services are through Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Talking Therapies, this means:• The referral is completed through them
- They complete the assessment
- They will match your needs with the most appropriate pathway in their services
- If selected for our Counselling for Wellbeing Pathway, you will then get booked in with one of our counsellors with a date and time for the appointment
Each of our counselling services will aim to…
- Give you a safe and secure space to talk to someone who won’t judge you.
- Help you make sense of things to understand yourself better.
- Help you resolve complicated feelings or find ways to live with them.
- Maintain your confidentiality (unless you disclose you are being abused and it becomes a matter of safeguarding). All sessions are one-to-one.
- Help you recognise unhelpful patterns in the way you think or act and find ways to change them (if you want to).
